NEEWER 660 PRO 2-pack review: pro lighting for self-tapes and home shoots
By Julian Snare, Caw Caw Films · Updated 18 October 2026
Light is the cheapest way to make your footage look expensive. The NEEWER 660 PRO kit gives you two bright, colour-accurate lights, two stands and carry bags. That’s a full key-and-fill set-up in one box.
Each light does warm, daylight and full colour, and you control both from your phone. Set it up once and your self-tapes and videos look the same every time.
What you’re getting, in plain English
Two lights that do three jobs
Each panel packs 660 LEDs: 170 warm, 170 cool and 320 colour. The warm and cool LEDs blend for any white from 3200K, cosy indoor bulb, to 5600K, daylight. The colour LEDs cover the full rainbow, with saturation from a whisper of colour to fully vivid. So each light can be your key light, your fill, or a coloured background light.
Colour you can trust
A CRI of 97+ means the light shows colours as they really are. Skin looks like skin. Products look like the photos on their box. For self-tapes and product shots, that’s the spec that matters most.
No flicker on camera
The lights use a constant-current design, so there’s no strobing or banding when you film. That’s a real problem with cheap LEDs, and you often don’t spot it until the edit.
Control it your way
Each light has buttons, a knob and a clear LCD screen on the back. Or connect over Bluetooth with the free NEEWER app and run both lights from your phone. Set them to separate channels (1–8) or control all of them together, and save two favourite set-ups to call up in a tap.
Nine built-in effects
Police car, ambulance, fire truck, party, two fireworks, two lightning and a TV-screen flicker. They’re useful for music videos and short films, and handy when a scene needs flashing blue lights you can’t afford to hire.
Mains or battery
Plug into the wall with the included adapters at home. Or slot in NP-F550 to NP-F970 batteries (sold separately) and take them anywhere with no cables.
Built to be moved about
The bodies are aluminium, which helps them stay cool. A U-bracket tilts each light to the angle you need, and you can mount them flat or upright. The barn doors and diffuser clip on to shape and soften the light.
Everything in the box
Two lights, each with its U-bracket and barn doors, two white diffusers, two mains adapters with cables, two 2m light stands and two carry bags. Add a camera or phone and you’re filming.

Why it works for self-tapes
Casting directors want to see your eyes. A single overhead bulb gives you dark sockets and a flat, grey face. Two lights fix that.
Put one light just off to the side as your key, raise it a little above eye level, and add the white diffuser. Set the second light lower on the other side as a fill. You get clean, even light on your face with a hint of shape, the way it looks on set.
The colour accuracy matters here. A CRI of 97+ means skin tones look like skin, not orange or green, so your tape looks natural without editing.

Why it works for content and product shoots
This is where the RGB side earns its place. Keep one light on your face at daylight, and turn the other into a colour wash on the wall behind you. Orange, red, blue, whatever fits the mood. It’s an instant look for YouTube, Reels and music content.
For product videos, set both lights to the same colour temperature and come in from either side. Use the barn doors to stop light spilling onto the background, and you get clean, even light on the product.

RGB colour wash on the background, daylight on the face.

What we liked
The good
- Two lights, stands, barn doors and bags in one box
- CRI 97+, so skin tones look natural
- Warm, daylight and full RGB from the same light
- Control on the light itself or from the phone app
- Flicker-free on camera
- [your own pro]
The not so good
- No built-in battery: you need mains power or NP-F batteries bought separately
- Small panels give harder light than a big softbox, so use the diffusers
- [your own con]
Our tips for better light
Kill the ceiling light
Turn off the room’s main light. Mixing it with your panels gives you odd colours and shadows.
Match the colour to the room
Daylight from a window? Set the lights to 5600K. Filming at night with warm lamps in shot? Go nearer 3200K. Matching stops your face looking blue or orange.
Diffuse and move closer
Always use the diffuser for faces. A closer light is a softer light, so bring it in rather than turning it up.
Wear glasses? Raise the key
If you see the light reflected in your lenses, lift the stand and angle the light down a touch.
Alternatives to consider
- NEEWER 660 PRO II: the upgraded version of this kit. Same 50W, CRI 97+ and 3200K–5600K, with Bluetooth app control. Check which version is cheaper on the day.
- A softbox kit: bigger, softer light that’s more flattering on faces, but bulkier and with no colour effects.
Verdict
For self-tapes and home filming, the NEEWER 660 PRO 2-pack is the easiest way to go from “filmed in a bedroom” to “filmed on set”. Two good lights, everything you need to stand them up, and colour when you want to have fun with it.
